Setup

Getting into crypto requires just three steps: make a wallet, buy some crypto, and make transactions.

Phantom

I use the app Phantom: https://phantom.app/

When you first download phantom, you’ll set up a wallet. I named this one “Tutorial”.

After hitting the “Buy” button, you’re given a few options of popular cryptocurrencies.

• Solana: My personal favorite. Commonly swapped for memecoins (discussed later).
• Ethereum: Another alternative to Bitcoin.
• Bitcoin: The standard of the crypto world.

If I were you, I’d buy some Solana for risk/reward plays and some Bitcoin as a safer play. You can always adjust your portfolio later.

• Choose the coin you want
• Enter the amount you’d like to buy

If you tap the rectangle above the Buy button, you can switch to your desired payment method (credit card, apple pay, ACH, etc)

You’ll also have a choice of provider. Phantom auto-sorts providers from cheapest to priciest, accounting for the fees they’ll charge you.
